Great Valley Lockshop

Founded in January of 1973 as part of Great Valley Hardware, Great Valley Lockshop (GVL) was managed by John Myers.  John was the sole locksmith backed up by the hardware store personnel at the counter.  At that time, GVL was one of the only commercial locksmith companies in the Malvern/Frazer area.  In November of 1980, John purchased the business from the hardware store and leased 100 square feet from the store.  Steady growth in the early ‘90’s contributed to the change from the “booth” style locksmith to its professional operation that has continued to this very day.

In November of 1982, GVL relocated to a 500 square foot facility just 1 mile to the west of the original location in the hardware store on Business Route 30 with 3 employees.  In October 1987, GVL relocated again to a slightly larger 900 square foot facility 1 mile east of the hardware store with 4 employees.  In the next decade, GVL once again relocated to its much larger location with a 1700 sq foot space.  This facility housed the business until November 1999.  In January 1999, the business was purchased from John by a 15-year employee by the name of Chris Strauss. The demand for GVL’s services grew and so did the customer base.  Eventually, the time came where larger spaces was needed yet once again.  The 2500 square foot free standing building at 16 Church Road in Malvern, just a block off business 30 is where we operate today.  This new facility allows for an expanded showroom, service area for our customers as well as ample office space for running the business with an office space.

In order to meet the growing needs of our customers, we established a wholesale division named Frazer Lock and Supply (FLS) in 1985.  This division of GVL provides OEM services for contract door and hardware companies.  Today, this division has grown to provide factory authorized repair service for both of the two major lock manufacturers, Yale Security Group and Ingersol Rand Safety and Security.  Welcome to Great Valley Lockshop!
